Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences.


A Day in the Life of a Junior Research Assistant


  • Maintenance and work with mammalian cell culture.  

  • Interact with core facilities for processing of experimental samples. 

  • Work closely with the scientists, research assistants, and students in coordinating research plans. 

  • Laboratory culture media/supplements/consumables stock management. 

  • Managing stock location.  

  • Managing usable duration. 

  • Communicating with other scientists to update the stock in the digital database.  

  • Replenishing stock.  

  • Processing of laboratory deliveries, receipt, storage, and notifications.  

  • Generation of cell culture media.  

  • Stock ingredients (chemicals/growth factors) preparations. 

  • Media preparation. 

  • Maintaining workplace standards.  

  • Assisting in major laboratory activities. 

  • Follow the laboratory Standard Operational Procedure (SOP).


What will make you successful

  • Apprenticeships graduate / Bachelor's degree / Master's degree in biology/biotechnology/bio-engineering

  • Minimum of 3-years of experience in Life Sciences / Biomedical

  • Experience in “mammalian cell culture” is essential

  • Experience in a laboratory environment is essential (cellular and molecular biology)

  • Experience working in a sterile condition

  • Experience working with bioreactors is a plus (but not required). 

  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, team-working mindset

  • Proficient in English, French is a plus.
